~Soundies with a Black Cast~

I have discovered that many of the dancing girls featured in the soundies were popular Harlem nightclub dancers, some from the famed Cotton Club, Club Zanzibar, Ubangi, Club Harlem, Elks Rendezvous, Rhumboogie, Small's Paradise, Mimo, Murrain's, and The Apollo Rockettes. They brought their beauty, sex appeal, charm, and talent to the soundies, and helped in making some of the best soundies. The soundies with a black cast are the most renowned and collected. The soundies featured many popular artist of the day, along with popular dancing girls.
 
Some of the dancing girls that were featured in soundies were Winnie Wini Johnson, Vivian Brown, Hilda Brown, Betti Mays, Olive Prince, Mabel Lee, Shirley Johnson, Kathleen Rusty Stanford, Jackie Lewis, Ruby Richards, Julie Hunter, Nikki O'Daniel, Edna Mae Holly, Francine Everett, Mildred Boyd, Juanita Moore, Chinkie Grimes, Artie Young, Louise Franklin, Lucille Battle, Avanelle Harris, Millie Monroe, Lou Ellen, Anna L. The soundies featured big name artists like Louis Jordan, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, June Richmond, Maxine Sullivan, Mills Brothers, Dorothy Dandridge, and popular nightclub performers of the day but unknown now, Edna Mae Harris, Lynn Albritton, Ida James, Evelyn Purvis, etc.
